Claude Julien fired by Bruins

BOSTON — The Boston Bruins have fired head coach Claude Julien.

Julien, who was in his 10th season with the Bruins, was the longest-tenured active coach in the NHL. He is the Bruins' all-time coaching wins leader with 419 career victories, compiling a 419-246-94 record in 759 games. Julien led the Bruins to a Stanley Cup Championship in 2011 and a return to the Stanley Cup Final in 2013.

Through the 2016-2017 season, the Bruins have posted a 26-23-6 record in 55 games. Assistant coach Bruce Cassidy will assume head coaching duties in the interim.
